EPF Wage Ceiling Raised From Rs. 15,000 To Rs. 25,000 w.e.f. 17 September 2026

The Central Government has notified Rs. 25,000 per month as the wage ceiling for Provident Fund coverage under Chapter III of the Code on Social Security, 2020 — up from Rs. 15,000 — with effect from 17 September 2026, the date of publication in the Gazette of India. Employees drawing up to Rs. 25,000 now fall within mandatory PF coverage.

What employers should do: re-run your PF applicability list against the new ceiling — employees previously excluded between Rs. 15,001 and Rs. 25,000 become covered members and must be enrolled. Budget for the additional employer contribution and update your payroll masters before the next monthly ECR.
